John Christopher Depp II (born June 9, 1963) is an American actor who has collaborated with director and close friend Tim Burton in eight films: Edward Scissorhands (1990), Ed Wood (1994), Sleepy Hollow (1999), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), Corpse Bride (2005), Sweeney Todd (2007), Alice in Wonderland (2010) and Dark Shadows (2012).
Depp reprised the role of Mad Hatter in Alice Through the Looking Glass without Burton at the helm. After the critical and financial failure of Dark Shadows the pair have distanced themselves from movie projects, but remain friends.
